What makes Alice a great learning example is that it is not just about translating some idiomatic expressions, or even total nonsense (see previous section for translation of “fiddle-dee-dee” into French). It is also about translating cultural differences.

There exists so many translations of the text, that the translators just had to take cultural differences into account.
